La Paz

La Paz is the highest administrative capital city in the world. The city is located 3600M ABSL and is dominated by one of Bolivia’s most beautiful and revered peaks 'Illimani', which is located just one hours drive from the city centre. This city is rich in culture and offers the tourist a variety of intriguing Museums, Plazas, Churches, and markets. Much of the Spanish Colonial architecture remains intact in the city many of which have been converted into small 'artesanias' selling everything from high-end alpaca pullovers in Calle Sagarnaga to dried llama foetuses in the 'Witches Market'.

For an authentic taste of Bolivia try an almuerzo (lunch) in one of the cities many reasonable restaurants, or start the day like many Paceñanos with a Salteña (a delicious meat filled paste), and a warm mug of Api. There is something for everybody in La Paz, and you will discover something new every day!

MOON VALLEY

A unique landscape located 7KM from the centre of La Paz. Moon Valley is a large collection of sandstone monoliths shaped over many thousands of years by the dry winds of southern La Paz. The trip offers a welcome relief from the busy city centre and you will notice the dramatic increase in the temperature in this region of La Paz. It is also this part of the city that all the foreign ambassadors live and you will pass many of their residences on the trip.
